Per our community contract with Republic, they may add a fuel surcharge when diesel fuel in our area reaches an average of $4 per gallon or more over a three-month period. Diesel fuel has been increasing over the past several months and is averaging more than $4/gallon. Fuel surcharge clauses are typical in fleet-based services.
The fuel charge will be based on the three-month average of diesel fuel per gallon. Therefore, the line item will fluctuate from invoice to invoice. Republic Services invoices quarterly and will be a line item on the July – September 2022 bill sent in June 2022.
The fuel charge will remain until the average diesel fuel per gallon is less than $4 over a three-month period. The surcharge will be removed 3-months after the average drops below this amount.
