The City of Green’s Drug Task Force Mental Health Committee Plans Two Guided Mindfulness Walks at Southgate Park on July 22 and September 30
GREEN, OH – The City of Green’s Drug Task Force Mental Health Committee is partnering with Cleveland Clinic Akron General Lifestyles to host two guided mindfulness walks at Southgate Park, 5300 Massillon Road. The two walks are Saturday, July 22 and Saturday, September 30 during the annual Twisted WilderFest Event, an annual festival of makers and nature in Southgate Park. Both walks begin at 10:30 am. The guided mindfulness walk is a free, family-friendly event, and no registration is required.
The day of the walk, participants will gather at the Boettler Park entrance of Southgate Park. The walk starts at the entrance and will be led by Cleveland Clinic Akron General Lifestyles Yoga Instructors, which follows the Mindful Walk, a 1.14-mile trail with ten mindful stations.
The goal of the mindfulness walk is to promote mindfulness through the components focus and clarity. Mindfulness is being aware of or bringing attention to this moment in time, deliberately and without judging the experience. The idea of mindfulness helps individuals to separate the here and now from the past of thoughts of the future.
