[ARCHIVED] Massillon Road South Project Traffic Pattern Changes After Memorial Day

Massillon Road South Infrastructure Project Traffic Pattern Changes After Memorial Day as Project Moves to Phase 2

GREEN, OH – After Memorial Day, the Massillon Road South infrastructure project moves to Phase 2 to construct the west side of road.  Traffic patterns will change.

Phase 2 will shift construction from the east side of Massillon Road to the west side.  Changes include:Massillon Road South Phase 2 Traffic Pattern Map

Traffic will shift to the east side with one lane of traffic in each direction.

A single lane roundabout will be open at Corporate Woods Circle/Thorn Drive and Massillon Road to access Corporate Woods Circle and Thorn Drive.

CVS Drive will be open and accessible from Thorn Drive and Franks Parkway.

Boettler Road from Massillon Road will be closed through August.

Franks Parkway will reopen with access from Massillon Road northbound only.

Traffic lights will be removed at Corporate Woods/Thorn Drive and Boettler Road.

Access to businesses along Massillon Road on the west side will be restricted to right turns in and right turns out.

Access to the Green YMCA and Summa Health Medical Facility, 3800 Massillon Road is available only from Graybill Road until Boettler Road reopens.

“Traffic will be free flowing north and south because we are eliminating the traffic signals at Boettler Road and Corporate Woods/Thorn Drive and Massillon Road,” said Paul Pickett, City Engineer. “With the single lane roundabout at Corporate Woods/Thorn Drive, motorists will start to see the corridor beginning to take shape and work as intended.  Also, with CVS Drive connected to Thorn Drive, additional access to businesses and points east of Massillon Road will free up traffic along Massillon as we construct the west side in this phase.”

The official changeover date to new traffic patterns is anticipated the week of Memorial Day, weather depending.  The change over to new traffic patterns will take place at night and the exact date will be released via text message and social media.

Roundabout rules

Slow down as you approach a roundabout. When entering the roundabout yield to traffic already in the roundabout and enter when there is adequate distance. Traffic in the roundabout has the right of way.   Do not stop within a roundabout to let traffic enter. Roundabouts can and should be used as a turn around or u-turn.
