DEI Committee to Host Virtual Seminar: Green Local Schools Commitment to DEI

The City of Green’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee to Host a Virtual Seminar: Green Local Schools DEI Commitment presented by Green Local Schools Administrators 

GREEN, OH – The City of Green’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee is hosting a virtual seminar, Green Local Schools DEI Commitment, on Saturday, February 27 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  Registration is not required.  Link to presentation is available at www.cityofgreen.org/diversity.*

The seminar open to all will provide an overview of the history of DEI work within the schools, a sampling of activities students are engaged in, and plans to continue work towards equity and inclusion in the future.  It will further provide an opportunity for the City of Green’s DEI committee to meet the staff focused on work in this area, including a newly hired DEI Coach.

Presenters:

Tiron Jester, DEI Coach, Green Local Schools

Tiron is a licensed educator and former marine who worked as a substitute in every building at Green Local Schools during the 2019-2020 school year.  His rapport with students and staff made an immediate impression on individuals across the district.  He was hired for the newly created DEI Coach position that will support students and staff.

Jessica Kraus, Mental Health Consultant

Jessica is a Mental Health Consultant with 30 years of experience in community mental health through Child Guidance and Family Solutions.  She has been working solely at Green Local Schools for 21 years and has a passion for DEI work.  She earned educator of the year from the Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio and serves as the advisor for two student groups promoting social justice: All In and Chain Reaction.

 Alana Niemiec, Assistant Superintendent, Green Local Schools

Alana is the Assistant Superintendent for Green Local Schools.  She is one of the three district compliance officers for bullying, harassment, and intimidation and served on the administrative social justice team.  Her role includes being the point person for strategic planning and the Ohio improvement process, two systemic approaches that focus and embed the work of diversity, equity, and inclusion across the district.
