Responsible Restart Ohio Order

Governor Mike DeWine has issued a new order beginning May 1 to reopen Ohio businesses in three phases. The order also includes new protocols for all businesses operating during this time.

Green Fire Department Reminds Residents to Be Safe this Fourth of July

Green Fire Department reminds residents to be safe this July 4th holiday weekend. Follow Green Fire’s Facebook page for important safety messages about fireworks.

The State of Ohio permits fireworks sales from licensed sales location within the state. However, discharge of fireworks in Ohio by a consumer is prohibited. All fireworks acquired by a consumer must be transported out of state within 48 hours.

2nd Annual Raintree 5K Planned for July 4

The City of Green is hosting the second annual Raintree 5K and Fun Run on Saturday, July 4 at Raintree Golf and Event Center.

Online registration ONLY. No day of race registration. Registration open until Friday, July 3 at 9 p.m. Register.

Early packet pick-up encouraged on July 3 at Raintree Golf and Event Center from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.

COVID-19 Guidelines to Ensure Safety of Participants

  • Staggered start times to ensure proper physical distancing
  • No spectators permitted.
  • Runners are encouraged to wear a mask during warm up and prior to the start of the race. Runners are not required to wear a mask during the race.
  • No on-course water stop. Runners must bring own on-course fluids.
  • No congregating after the race. Runners will depart as soon as they complete the course. Winners will be notified at a later time.

Proceeds from the race will benefit The First Tee of Greater Akron.

Central Park Splash Pad Opens July 6

The City of Green plans to open the splash pad at Central Park, 1755 Town Park Blvd, on Monday, July 6. The splash pad will be open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, weather permitting.

Restrictions and guidelines:

  • A limit of 17 people permitted on the splash pad at any one time.
  • Social distancing of 6 feet must be maintained in and around the splash pad.
  • No large groups such as day camps or daycare centers will be permitted.
  • Restrooms are open at the splash pad site only, but not permitted to be used as a changing room.
  • Masks are not mandatory in the splash pad but are encouraged by those in the surrounding areas.
  • A 10-minute safety break will take place at the top of every hour.
  • Use the splash pad at your own risk.
  • No concessions will be available this season.

Fitness in the Park Returns July 8

FREE Yoga in the Park returns on Wednesday, July 8 at Central Park. Yoga classes, led by Cleveland Clinic Akron General instructors, are Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9 a.m. July 8 - August 15 at Central Park, 1755 Town Park Blvd.

Cardio Barre (Barre45) is a 45-minute, fast-paced full-body workout that incorporates isometric movements and light weights to strengthen and sculpt the body to the beat of music. Taught by Rodrianna Alsip, this class is appropriate for all levels; no experience is necessary.

On June 29, the Library launched its Outside Pick-up Service at all locations as part of its reopening phases. Holds on books and other materials will be available for pick-up by appointment.

City Income Taxes Due July 15

The City of Green income taxes are due Wednesday, July 15. Taxes may be e-filed, mailed to P.O. Box 460, Green, Ohio 44232 or dropped off in our Income Tax drop box located to the left of the Central Administration Building’s main doors, 1755 Town Park Blvd.

Rent and Mortgage Assistance Available to Summit County Residents

Summit County is offering a mortgage and rental assistance program to help keep Summit County families and residents in their homes in the wake of the historic economic recession caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The first application window opens July 6 through July 17. Summit County residents can apply online at www.summitcountycares.org or call 2-1-1. Eligible residents will receive up to four months of rent or mortgage payments, or up to $5,000, with the first round of payments expected to be dispersed in late July or early August.

To be eligible for the program, an individual must meet the following requirements:

  • A resident of Summit County;
  • Pay rent, have a lease agreement, or a mortgage;
  • Live in a household that was financially impacted by COVID-19;
  • Have an unpaid rent or mortgage balance; AND
  • Have countable income not in excess of 300% of the Federal Poverty Limit.
