NEW FOR 2023! In partnership with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, our classes will now be held at the Portage Lakes State Park Archery Range! The range is located at 5031 Manchester Road, New Franklin, OH 44319.
The Youth Archery Program is taught by USA Archery Certified Instructors and is designed to educate local youth and teens about archery, with an emphasis on safety. Students will learn how to use properly use a bow and arrow, as well as archery safety, range set-up, and more. All equipment is provided and class sizes are small to allow for more shooting and instructor feedback.
Our youth archery programs are intended for children ages 8 to 15 years old. All archery classes are $25 per resident child and $30 per non-resident child, unless otherwise noted. Please read the descriptions of each class below.
Exclusive registration for returning archers will take place from February 13-17, 2023. Returning archers should register by calling or visiting the Parks & Recreation Office at 330-896-6621 or 1755 Town Park Blvd., Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm. There will be no online registration 2/13 - 2/17.

Quick Start Archery
The Quick Start Archery program is taught by USA Archery Certified Instructors and is designed for those who may be interested in archery or may want to take the Youth Archery program but want to try it out first.
Children ages 8 to 15 years old can take this 45 minute class and learn about archery safety, the parts of the bow and arrow, and how to shoot. All equipment provided!
Registration fees are $15 per resident child and $20 per non-resident child, for the Quick Start class only. Dates are: Wednesday, April 5, 2023 and Wednesday, July 19, 2023.
Beginner Youth Archery
The Youth Archery Program is taught by USA Archery Certified Instructors and is designed to educate local youth and teens about archery, with an emphasis on safety. Students will learn how to use recurve and compound bows, as well as archery safety, range set-up, and more.
Classes are 30-minutes and will meet once a week for four weeks, on Wednesday evenings. All equipment is provided!
Intermediate/Advanced Youth Archery
The Intermediate Youth Archery Program is a program designed for those who have had formal archery instruction. This could include our beginner archery class or any other outside instruction. However, prior experience is necessary. If you are new to archery, please take the beginner class.
This class will focus on safety, proper form, archery games, and friendly competition. Participants can bring their own equipment or borrow equipment from the City of Green. All classes are instructed by a certified USA Archery instructor.
Classes are 30-minutes and will meet once a week for four weeks, on Monday evenings.
Home School Youth Archery
The Youth Archery Program is taught by USA Archery Certified Instructors and is designed to educate local youth and teens about archery, with an emphasis on safety. Students will learn how to use recurve and compound bows, as well as archery safety, range set-up, and more. Class will meet twice a week, on Tuesday and Thursday mornings for two weeks. All equipment is provided!
This class is intended for home school children or groups who would like to supplement their physical education! If you would like to set up a private or group lesson, please call 330-896-6621 for more details.

Join us for fun demonstrations and hands-on activities exploring the Moon, the Planets, Asteroids, and Comets and more for 7-10 year olds! You and your child can have fun while learning about our sky from members of the Astronomy Club of Akron! This event is free of charge. Camp Y-Noah, in partnership with the Green Parks and Recreation Division, is offering an Outdoor Education class for girls aged 9-15! Participants will learn activities such as survival, archery, outdoor cooking, hiking, and orienteering. If your daughter is interesting in outdoor activities, this is the program for her! You can sign up for one session or both. Each session will focus on different activities.
Participants will meet at the Dining Hall at Camp Y-Noah at 815 Mount Pleasant Rd.

The City of Green Pre-K Camp programs are intended for kids ages 5-6 years old. Each week of camp is a different theme which we will center our activities around. Each week will bring new, fun, and adventurous experiences for all of our campers!
Week 1: Water Week (July 24 - July 28)
Week 2: Arts & Crafts (July 31 - Aug 4)
Week 3: Nature & Wildlife (Aug 7 - Aug 11)
Camps are held at Central Park (1795 Steese Road) from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (unless otherwise noted).
Camps are $40 per week for residents and $50 per week for non-residents. You can register for the entire 3 weeks or for individual weeks of camp.
Campers should be potty trained. Please bring a change of clothes in a clear plastic bag with the campers name written on the outside of the bag, just in case! Campers should also bring a reusable water bottle and a snack.
All camp staff members are inclusion trained though a partnership with Summit DD. This gives us the ability to better include all children into our camps! Staff are also trained in first aid, CPR, and AED to ensure the utmost safety of the campers.

This theatrical camp, taught by instructors from Theater 8:15, will take place March 27 - March 31, 2023. Participants will learn the basics of acting, singing, and choreography for a theatrical production. There will be two sessions offered, one for ages 4-11 years old and another for ages 12 and up.

Families with toddlers are invited to come enjoy a morning of fun snacks and activities! On the second Wednesday of each month (during the school year), parents or guardians can bring their toddlers (ages 5 and under) to enjoy a themed activity and snack from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Central Park.

Pre-registration is required and there is a fee of $5 per resident child and $6 per non-resident child.
For the most part, experiences are self-guided, so we do ask that parents and guardians participate along with their children.
The Youth & Teen Cooking Club will teach children ages 12-15 how to cook a breakfast, lunch, donner, and dessert over the course of 4 weeks. Each class will include lessons on kitchen safety and sanitation. Classes are instructed by Chef Jenna Lewis, the Culinary Arts Instructor at the Portage Lakes Career Center.
