Recreation Programs & Events For Seniors
Green Parks and Recreation offers a variety of programs and activities for active adults 50 and older. We have weekly card games, monthly socials/luncheons, special events and trips throughout the year. Join us for a three-week watercolor painting class taught by Kathleen Clark, owner of the Lil' Art Shop. Space is limited so don't wait to register!

Join us for trip to Apple Creek to Troyer's Home Pantry, lunch at the Dutch Kitchen and a visit to the Troutman Winery in Wooster! Lunch buffet includes the hot buffet, salad bar, soup, dessert bar, and drinks. Wine tasting at Troutman's is $10/person for five tastings.

The Green Parks and Recreation Division is offering an introductory cooking class at the Create a nutritious meal by cooking healthy! Led by Chef Matt Crago, class participants will make pan-seared chicken with roasted red pepper puree, lemon zest sugar snap peas, and a quinoa brown rice blend. The class is open to adults of all ages.

The City of Green is pleased to offer weekly adult fitness classes geared for active adults age 50 and up.

WHAT: TONING - Light weights and strength training from a chair or standing. All equipment provided.
WHEN: Mondays, 1 pm - 1:45 pm
COST: Classes are free; No pre-registration required.
Join us for a tasty treat, helpful information and socializing with friends and neighbors in partnership with Chords of Compassion, CVS Medicare, Modern Hearing and Southern Care Hospice.

The City of Green Parks and Recreation is pleased to host Knit for the Needy! This group makes afghans and other "warm items" for those in need.
When: Every Tuesday. January and February are weather permitting.
Where: John Torok Community and Senior Center
Time: 1 pm to 3 pm
Cost: Free and open to all!
Yarn will be provided, however, participants will need to bring their own knitting needles and/or crochet hooks.
Items Being Made
Members are encouraged to make any items that they would like, such as:
- Blankets, Gloves, Hats, Mittens, Scarves
- Patterns for various items will also be provided.
Donations
If you cannot attend during this time, the City of Green will still gladly take any donations of completed warm items and/or yarn. Donations can be dropped off at:

Please join us for our 4th annual Senior Expo, sponsored by Summa Health! This is a great way for seniors to discover services and opportunities available to them in the area by meeting with a variety of local businesses, service providers, and other vendors who cater directly to seniors.
Light refreshments will be available for guests and vendors. We will also be giving away prizes throughout the event (must be present to win).

COST: This event is FREE to seniors; No pre-registration required for senior guests.

Play games and socialize! Games will be provided by the City of Green, the primary game being Mexican Train Dominoes. However, other games will be available to play! Attendees are encouraged to bring a covered dish or snack to share.

Enjoy a holiday breakfast with music and give-aways at the Raintree Golf & Event Center. The breakfast buffet includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, French toast, seasonal fresh fruit, muffins, assorted juices, coffee, and tea.

Join us for a therapeutic music hour led by a board-certified music therapist! Enjoy singing beloved songs, play instruments, light movement to music, and ending with guided relaxation. These activities can be done while sitting in a chair or standing. Stay after for a cup of coffee and conversation!
When: First Friday of Each Month. 2023 dates are: 2/3, 3/3, 4/7, 5/5, 9/1, 10/6, 11/3 and 12/1. No Class June - August.
