Department Overview

The City of Green Planning Department is responsible for the review and development of private and public improvements in the City in addition to all commercial, industrial and residential development; and subdivision plans.

Responsibilities

The following is a list of some of the Planning Staff’s primary responsibilities:

  • Commercial, Industrial & Multi-family Development Review
  • Major & Minor Subdivisions
  • Minor Lot Splits & consolidations
  • Property Re-Zonings
  • Zoning Code Amendments
  • Economic Development
  • Minor Home Repair 
  • GIS Mapping
  • Capital Project Planning & Grant Administration
  • Historic Preservation

The Planning Department is also the local point of contact for Economic Development assistance for existing businesses in the community and new businesses looking to locate in the Green. The City’s Planning staff has access to various business incentive programs that encourage and assist companies to stay and become a part of our community.

Additional Resources

In addition, the City of Green Planning Department staff provides conceptual planning, a wide assortment of mapping resources, demographics and grant writing for a variety of public capital improvement projects.

Liaisons

Planning Department staff also serves as the liaison for the following boards and departments, interfacing with contractors, developers and citizens:

Staff provides technical assistance, research, and a wide discipline of knowledge and experience, as well as administrative support to the PZC, HPC, and DRB.
